Today we are very excited to announce the Hobart Women’s Shelter has an additional 10, 2 bedroom crisis pods to further assist women and children who are experiencing family violence and/or homelessness. The new pods are on our existing site to ensure women and children are connected with on-site 24/7 support.
In addition to these new pods we have acquired 7 transitional properties for families. Over the past year we have grown 113%, with our property capacity now sitting at 32.
We would like to thank the Liberal Government, Minister for Housing, The Hon. Roger Jaensch for investment in capital and increasing our funding to employ additional staff to support women and children; Department of Communities for ensuring we were involved in all the planning and design; Fairbrother for going above and beyond the build to support staff and residents onsite; Royal Wolf for bringing an innovative temporary housing solution to the table; our staff for being flexible and responsive and to all of our supporters that provide us with the little things to ensure the new pods are comfortable and welcoming. A great example of collaboration and innovative thinking, thank you to all involved.
